KUALA LUMPUR – Kota Tampan assemblyman Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad will be having an audience with Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah at Istana Kinta at noon today to seek consent in forming a Barisan Nasional (BN) led administration.
An unnamed source told The Vibes and Getaran that the immediate past menteri besar claims that his coalition has secured the majority to form a coalition government.
“Saarani is having an audience at Istana Kinta at 12pm claiming he has the majority to form a government,” said the source.
If the sultan is convinced of a BN majority, the swearing-in ceremony will take place in Istana Iskandariah, Kuala Kangsar.
In the recently concluded 15th general election, BN managed to secure only nine state seats.
The lion’s share went to Perikatan Nasional (PN), which took 26 seats and Pakatan Harapan (PH) held 24 seats.
However, no current coalition has the majority to lead the assembly without cooperating with other rival coalitions.
In total, Perak has 59 state seats, and a simple majority to form a government requires 30 seats. – The Vibes, November 21, 2022
