
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah has been recognised as an ideal place for international training centre for nature interpretation guides.
The recognition, given by the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) aligns with Sabah’s focus on culture, adventure, and nature tourism, said Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.
Advertisement“This recognition would also position Sabah as a potential choice to host the prestigious biennial WFTGA Convention in the future,” he said when launching the first-ever WFTGA Trainer Convention, hosted in Sabah, in collaboration with Sabah Tourist Guides Association (STGA) at a hotel yesterday.
He said Sabah had made a bid to host the 2026 convention, but lost to Fukuoka, Japan.
