Sabah athletes to benefit from EPF contributions starting 2023

KOTA KINABALU – Sabah athletes are set to be subscribed to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) starting 2023.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said this will ensure that local athletes will become more seriously involved in their sports.

He said all athletes representing the state in the Sukma and Para Sukma games will receive a monthly RM50 contribution to their EPF.

“The monies will be fully borne by the state government.

“Hopefully, the contribution will be a start for the local athletes to train more seriously and make sports their career and future.

“The programme would also ensure the continuity of the contributions until they find jobs later,” he said while congratulating the state Youth and Sports Ministry for the effort.

Hajiji said this in his speech at the Incentives handing ceremony to Sabah athletes who represented Malaysia and the state in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, the Para Asean XI-Solo 2022, Sukma and MSN 2022 at the Sabah International Convention Centre, last night.

His speech was read by Sabah Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ellron Alfred Angin.

The state also spent a total RM481,600 for the incentives to athletes who performed well in the games. – The Vibes, October 27, 2022
