Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) is presenting itself as the alternative government ahead of the state’s 17th election, with party leaders expressing confidence that public sentiment is shifting in their favour.

Sabah Umno Information Chief Datuk Suhaimi Nasir said the upcoming Blue Wave gathering on Sept 21 will show the party’s readiness to reclaim power in the State.

“The Blue Wave event is expected to be the largest political gathering ahead of Sabah’s 17th state election. This wave will not only shake the GRS administration but also show public confidence that the era of BN’s return to govern the State is drawing near,” Suhaimi said in a statement, here, Saturday.

The Libaran MP said the event set to be held at the Magellan Sutera here is more than just political symbolism.

“Blue Wave is not just a symbol, but represents the people’s aspiration to see Sabah return to the path of real development,” he said, adding that the event will bring together leaders, party machinery and citizens who believe the State needs a stable, consistent and authoritative leadership.

Suhaimi is confident in BN’s track record and organisational preparedness for the upcoming electoral contest.

“Sabah BN comes forward with an undeniable track record of achievements and with party machinery now at full readiness, the party is prepared to face the state election at any time,” he said.

He said the Sept 21 gathering is a referendum on the current State administration’s performance.

“Public attendance at the Blue Wave sends a message that the people are ready to end the episode of weak governance and open a new chapter with BN, which has proven to safeguard the State’s interests,” Suhaimi said.
