SANDAKAN: Two new National Information Dissemination Centres (Nadi) are being developed in Sabah, namely Nadi Kampung Gelam in Semporna and Nadi Pulau Banggi in Kudat.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said they are part of 14 new Nadis that have been completed or are underway across the state.
He said Nadi benefits communities by enabling small businesses to expand online and educating the public on safe internet usage, especially for children under 13.
Fahmi announced this during a press conference after officiating the Nadi Sim-Sim Community Day programme in Kampung Sim-Sim, attended by several leaders including Sandakan MP Vivian Wong Shir Yee.
There are over 1,000 Nadis nationwide, with Sabah having the second-highest number at 132, underlining the government’s commitment to improving digital access in rural areas through initiatives like "1 Dun 1 Nadi."
