KOTA KINABALU: The State Government has cancelled tomorrow (Tuesday) night’s Malaysia Day celebration at Padang Merdeka due to severe weather and widespread flooding in at least seven districts.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor (pic) said he had informed Head of State Tun Musa Aman of the decision on Monday.
He stressed that the government’s immediate priority is to manage the crisis, coordinate recovery efforts and ensure timely rescue operations for affected communities.
Hajiji instructed the State Disaster Management Committee, chaired by State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong, to remain on full alert and continue round-the-clock monitoring of the situation.
He also called on the public to stay vigilant, follow safety advisories, and cooperate with rescue teams as efforts are intensified across the State.
