Sabah Chinese reminded about ensuring stability: TC Goh

Tuaran: Sabah will continue to play a significant role in determining the political situation in the country as long as the people of Sabah are united and politically stable, said Tan Sri T.C Goh, President of The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong).

He believed that irrespective of the political situation in Peninsula Malaysia, east Malaysian states, Sabah included, could still be the “king makers”.

Goh, who is also President of The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS), said this while speaking at the 38th National Chinese Cultural Festival (NCCF) Torch Relay for Tuaran District, at SJK (C) Chen Sin, here, recently.

Also present were the guest of honour Assistant Minister of Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, who represented Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor, Sabah Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim, Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, FCAS Deputy President Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen cum Organising Chairperson of 38th National Chinese Culture Festival (NCCF), among others.

Read more Goh also urged the people of Sabah, the Chinese community in particular, to continue to ensure political stability in the State, so that the State government could continue to champion the rights and benefits of the people.

He also acknowledged that Tuaran District is a “harmonious town” that has produced many talents and politicians, the current Chief Minister, included.

He also thanked Hajiji for his support for the event as well as the recently concluded 8th FCAS International Dragon Boat Race.

Goh said this included allocation of State funds to the organiser which has significantly alleviated its financial burden of organising the two major events.

He also commended the nine major Chinese organisations in Tuaran district for their hard work in hosting the Torch Relay which demonstrated well on the spirit of unity among the local Chinese community in preserving their culture and traditions.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor emphasised that the State government will continue to provide unbiased support for cultural development of various ethnic groups in the State.

He also called on the people of Sabah to continue to rally behind the present Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition government, so that it could continue to bring development and prosperity to the State.
