Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Credit Corporation (SCC) marked its 70th anniversary with a vibrant Customer Day celebration held in conjunction with the UTC Sabah 2025 Hari Raya Open House at the Urban Transformation Centre, here.
SCC Chief Executive Officer Datuk George Taitim Tulas said the anniversary was not merely a celebration but a moment to reflect on past achievements and chart a forward-looking direction.
“Seventy years are a journey filled with challenges and transformation. “We’ve played a role in building a brighter future for Sabahans through inclusive and responsible financial services,” he said.
Among the highlights was the launch of the “Jelajah Bersama Anda” Expedition, an outreach initiative involving visits to all 13 District Customer Centres and seven SCC Service Centres across the State.
George said the roadshow aims to strengthen ties with communities, promote better understanding of SCC’s core values and reaffirm its customer-first approach.
The event also featured an exhibition tracing SCC’s history and achievements since 1955, along with testimonials from clients who have benefitted from its various financing schemes.
Looking ahead, SCC introduced key initiatives focusing on digital transformation, enhanced customer service systems and sustainability efforts.
“We must adapt to the evolving financial landscape. Technology will be central to ensuring we remain relevant and efficient,” he said.
The celebration also included corporate social responsibility (CSR) contributions, with significant support channelled to education and healthcare.
Sekolah Kebangsaan Api-Api Kota Kinabalu received RM519,920 to build a school assembly roof, presented to Headmaster Mohd Hafiz Zuraumy Damsah.
Meanwhile, Diabetes Malaysia Sabah Branch received a Fundus Camera worth RM392,000 to aid diabetic eye disease treatment, accepted by its Chairperson Professor Rosalind Kueh.
“This reflects our long-term commitment to empowering communities and supporting Sabah’s socio-economic development,” said George.
The festive mood was enhanced by the Hari Raya Open House, co-hosted with UTC Sabah, which brought together people from various backgrounds to celebrate unity and togetherness.
George expressed appreciation to SCC staff, partners and loyal customers for their contributions over the years.
“This occasion is not just about the past, but about setting the tone for a brighter and more impactful future,” he said.
The anniversary celebrations will continue throughout the year with various activities as part of SCC’s ongoing commitment to the local community.
The event brought together clients, strategic partners and government agencies in appreciation of those who have supported SCC’s seven-decade journey as a key financial institution in the State.
