Kota Kinabalu: Just as the palm oil industry works to counter its environmental flora and fauna destructive images promoted by green NGOs to depress global demand particularly from the West, exports of Sabah’s forestry products can benefit from similar jurisdictional CSPO or MSPO certification.
Dr Robert C. Ong Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests (Research & Development) & Head of Forest Research Centre said that FSC jurisdictional certification for Sabah’s forestry products like industrial tree plantation timber and products, including from smallholders besides FMUs, can be worked on.
He said FSC can consider adopting a jurisdictional approach to certification of forest under the State’s plantation agenda.
