Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s development momentum must be driven collectively with the involvement of all parties, including the business sector, educational institutions, academics, industry players, professionals and the community, to ensure every plan is translated into outcomes that benefit the people.
Sabah Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Datuk Azrul Ibrahim said the State’s development momentum under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor was now on a positive track, with various development agendas being implemented.
He said more importantly, Sabah now had clear plans and direction to bring the State to a better level.
“The State’s development momentum must be driven together by all parties. The business sector, educational institutions, academics, industry players, professionals and the community need to move in tandem to ensure every plan can be translated into outcomes that benefit the people,” he said.
He said this when delivering the keynote address at the 1st Borneo International Congress for Business, Education, Economics & Management (BICBEEM) 2026 at Raia Hotel, Kota Kinabalu.
Azrul said education and the economy needed to move in tandem, with educational institutions producing quality human capital while the business sector needed to be bold in exploring new opportunities.
At the same time, he said an ecosystem that encouraged innovation, investment and entrepreneurship needed to be further strengthened to support economic growth and human capital development in Sabah.
He said Sabah had significant advantages and potential as part of the Borneo economic ecosystem, but what was needed was a unified direction, strong cooperation and the commitment of all parties to implement the plans that had been drawn up.
“We do not want to merely talk about Sabah’s potential. We want that potential to be translated into opportunities, investment, jobs, knowledge and well-being for the people,” he said.
Azrul said the development momentum was already in place and plans were being implemented, therefore all parties needed to play their respective roles and move in tandem to take Sabah towards greater progress, success and prosperity.
