Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity is losing about RM30 million a year due to illegal electricity connections that still occur in the state.

In a statement here, the utility company for Sabah and Labuan said the losses represented about two percent of the energy loss in the grid system.

AdvertisementAccordingly, he said efforts to combat illegal electricity connections continued to be the company's focus in efforts to strengthen the electricity supply in Sabah this year.

"Sabah Electricity is determined to continue the momentum in combating illegal connections throughout Sabah.

"It is estimated that the 'System Loss' rate resulting from illegal connections is two percent, equivalent to RM30 million in losses per year," the statement said.
