Kuala Lumpur: The Federal Government must implement Sabah’s 40 per cent special grant entitlement by clarifying the exact amount payable and providing a clear payment timeline, said Tuaran Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau (pic).
He said this follows a Finance Ministry reply in the Dewan Rakyat estimating federal revenue collected from Sabah between 2022 and 2024 at around RM10 billion annually.
Based on that net collection estimate, Tangau noted that Sabah's constitutionally mandated 40 per cent share would amount to roughly RM4 billion per year.
According to the ministry, the estimated collection comprises the five per cent petroleum cash payment as well as other direct and indirect tax revenues, though it did not detail the annual breakdown or calculation methodology.
Questioning why the Federal Government continues to delay disbursement, Tangau stressed that Sabahans require transparent disclosure of the computation, final amount due, and implementation schedule for the special grant.
