SANDAKAN: The Sabah government has rolled out 16 education assistance initiatives under Yayasan Sabah, benefiting students from SPM, STPM, STAM to higher education levels including diploma, degree, master’s and PhD.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif said the programmes cover schools, parent–teacher associations and students, including free MUET exam fees worth RM1 million annually and subsidised flights for Sabahans studying in Peninsular Malaysia.

Nearly 600 students, parents’ associations and recipients from Sandakan, Beluran and nearby areas received RM3 million in assistance under the Sabah State Education Fund (TPNS).

Since its launch, TPNS has benefitted 11,000 recipients, including 60 PhD students.
