KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will expand care facilities for the elderly and persons with disabilities (PWD), with projects planned in Sandakan, Kota Kinabalu, and Telupid.

Minister Datuk James Ratib said developments include a new OKU Training Complex and upgraded Sri Harapan Old Folks Home in Sandakan, and an Integrated PWD & Elderly Complex in Inanam, Kota Kinabalu, offering care services, vocational training, and psychosocial support.

A self-sustaining elderly home is also being built in Telupid, expected to house 15 residents by next year. The government also plans a new RM2.5 million ward in Sandakan to accommodate 20 more elderly residents.
