Sabah eyes industrial development collaboration with Japan

Kota Kinabalu: State Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, recently hosted a luncheon with Takahashi Katsuhiko, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia.

Discussions during the luncheon centred around potential collaborations between Sabah and Japan, focusing on industrial development and investments.

Phoong expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of forging stronger ties with Japan, particularly in sectors such as biomass, green industries and renewable energy.

Recognising Japan’s leadership in these fields, Phoong highlighted the importance of leveraging Japanese expertise and technology to drive sustainable growth and development in Sabah.

“This forum aims to facilitate dialogue and networking between Sabah and Japanese businesses, paving the way for mutually beneficial partnerships,” he said in a statement.

The Ministry, under Phoong’s leadership, looks forward to further engagements and fruitful collaborations with Japan in the near future.

Also present were Permanent Secretary Datuk Thomas Logijin, Japanese Consul General in Kota Kinabalu Yamashita Yoshito and Political Secretary to the Minister, Chan Loong Wei, among others.
