
Kota Kinabalu: The State Government is looking to reduce its reliance on plant fertiliser imports by getting investors to invest in local production of fertiliser and pesticide, said Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.
He said the Government would also consider setting up factories to process agricultural raw materials into fertilisers and pesticides, if research and development findings show that there is enough material to be manufactured.
He was responding to a supplementary question by Sindumin Assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob who asked if the State Government has plans to set up factories to process agricultural raw materials and reduce its reliance on fertiliser and pesticide imports.
