KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor reaffirmed that the “Sabah First” principle remains central to state policy, prioritising public interests, responsible revenue management, and fair economic opportunities.

Speaking through his assistant minister at a unity celebration in Kota Kinabalu, he said 2026 marks a new development phase under Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0, focused on competitiveness, productivity, and sustainable growth in line with the 13th Malaysia Plan.

Hajiji said the plan builds on SMJ 1.0’s recovery efforts and calls for continued reform in governance and economic value creation.

He added that Sabah’s multicultural harmony remains a model of unity, highlighted by a record-breaking 1,500-metre Yee Sang event symbolising cooperation across communities and Asean partnership.
