Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Golf Association (SGA) plays an active role in assisting all their affiliates to have their golf courses and slopes rated in accordance with the USGA Handicap System.
Its president Datuk Peter Khoo said this following the success ratings of Kinabalu Golf Club, Sabah Golf & Country Club, Nexus Karambunai Golf Resort and Tambunan Golf Clubs by three Malaysia Golf Association’s qualified raters last month.
“The slope rating comes into play because golf courses come in all shapes and sizes, and due to the variance in difficulty, the golfer handicap does not translate from one course to another,” he said.
He added that Sandakan Golf & Country Club, Sibuga Golf Club, Mount Kinabalu Golf Club and Keningau Golf & Country Club will be next to have their courses rated sometime in May.
