KUNDASANG: The Sabah government remains committed to strengthening road safety through continuous awareness campaigns led by the Sabah Road Safety Council and the state Ministry of Works and Utilities.

Works and Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam said road safety is a shared responsibility, stressing that responsible driving behaviour is key to reducing accidents, injuries and fatalities.

He was speaking at the Christmas 2025 Road Safety Awareness Campaign, which focused on improving public awareness and practical prevention measures, including the distribution of safety items such as emergency triangles, first-aid kits and helmet replacements for selected motorcyclists.

Joachim urged road users to drive prudently, obey speed limits, avoid driving while tired, refrain from mobile phone use and ensure vehicles are roadworthy.

The annual campaign, held during festive seasons due to increased traffic, was organised in Ranau, a major route linking Sabah’s west and east coasts.
