KOTA KINABALU: Sabah marked a key milestone in agricultural exports with the first shipment of MD2 pineapples to Singapore, cultivated by Aqina Borneo Sdn Bhd in Beaufort.
Officiated by Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, the launch highlights Sabah’s readiness to meet global standards and the success of rural empowerment through commercial farming.
The pineapples were grown on 123 acres within a 400-acre site leased from KPD. Aqina Borneo employs 30 locals and supports 11 B40 farmers through a contract farming programme.
