Sabah launches RM1m fund, expands SME-Up to boost MSMEs

TENOM: The Sabah Government has introduced a RM1 million Special Entrepreneur Development Fund and expanded the SME-Up 2026 Programme to empower Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) entrepreneurs in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister cum Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the initiatives aim to help entrepreneurs enhance production capacity, improve product quality and expand into higher-level markets.

He said the Chief Minister had approved the special fund to assist MSMEs facing current challenges.

Ewon said this when officiating the Sabah MSME Entrepreneur Carnival 2026 Tenom Zone at the Tenom Town Municipal Field Open Stage here.

He added that the fund’s scope has been expanded this year to include cooperatives, with assistance covering start-up capital, product quality improvement, marketing, machinery and equipment purchases, and human capital development.
