Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Love the Children’s Association (PSKS) is committed to providing protection to children.

Its Chairman Dr Habibie Ibrahim said the protection of children from neglect, abuse, violence and exploitation is an important aspect that needs to be prioritised.

“After the country was hit by Covid-19, statistics of depression, problems among children, especially teenagers, whether in cities or rural areas, are increasing.

“In light of that, this association was established with the aim of protecting children from neglect, abuse and underage marriage,” she told the media after paying a courtesy call on the wife of the Head of State, Toh Puan Norlidah R.M Jasni, at Istana Seri Kinabalu.

Various activities are organised by PSKS to implement a welfare programme in an effort to help children of the B40 group involving the areas of Kota Kinabalu, Likas and Keningau, among them channelling assistance for basic schooling needs.

In addition to introducing the role of PSKS established in 2019, the visit also aimed to appoint Toh Puan Norlidah as patron of the association.

Earlier, Toh Puan Norlidah welcomed a visit from the Kota Kinabalu District Women’s Head of the All Sabah Islamic Organization (Usia), Nirma Habibi. Nirma said the visit was to invite Toh Puan Norlidah to attend the khatam Al-Quran programme for 200 orphans and tahfiz expected to be held in Kota Kinabalu on Sept 28.
