Kota Kinabalu: Wanita MCA Sabah and MCA Deputy Secretary General Datuk Dr Pamela Yong said SAPP President Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee should reflect on himself before he speaks for others.

“Otherwise, he will be seen as a hypocrite or one who engages in double standards,” said Dr Pamela in a statement.

She was commenting on Yong, who is also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) deputy chairman, asking peninsula-based parties to stay out of the coming state election and leave it to GRS.

Dr Pamela said SAPP [and Yong do not seem to have any qualms, much less scruples, aligning with any coalition to enjoy the best of both worlds.

“Both PPBM and PAS are peninsula-based political parties trying to carve a niche in multiracial Sabah.

“Conveniently at the same time in Sabah, SAPP have their hands dipped comfortably into the GRS-led state government aligned with the federal Unity Government.

“How will they represent the rakyat’s interests effectively when they are either yet neither part of both the ruling coalition and opposition?

“Perhaps after frog-leaping from one coalition to another, Yong has lost the plot or sight of who he is backing, and should be supporting.”

She also reminded Yong that SAPP was not in attendance for any seat negotiations back in PRN16.

“During seats negotiations, only BN (Umno, MCA, PBRS), PBS, PPBM and Star were invited for the meeting.

“Thus, to allege that MCA ‘snatched’ Likas seat from SAPP (him) in the last minute is certainly not the least bit accurate,” said Dr Pamela
