Sabah government assures safety and immediate assistance for victims after a major fire destroyed about 200 houses in Kampung Bahagia, Sandakan

SANDAKAN: The Sabah state government has mobilised all relevant agencies to ensure the safety of victims of a major fire at Kampung Bahagia here.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the priority is to safeguard the welfare of the victims and ensure their comfort.

“I am deeply saddened to receive reports of a major fire involving hundreds of houses in Kampung Bahagia, Batu Sapi,” he said in a Facebook post.

He added that the state government would continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure all forms of assistance are delivered promptly and effectively.

This includes the provision of temporary shelters, basic necessities and food. The fire destroyed about 200 houses in the water village in an early morning blaze.
