‘Sabah needs a Women’s Ministry’

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah should have its own Ministry exclusively for women empowerment and family development, said Sabah Women Advisory Council (MPWS) Chairperson Datuk Dr Tarsiah TZ Taman.

She said it is timely for the State Government to consider setting up the ministry that would focus on issues, needs and interests related to women, children and families.

She said MPWS has been calling for the establishment of the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Development, and Family Wellbeing, for a long time.

“There are a lot of issues surrounding women and children in Sabah that still need to be addressed although such matters are under the jurisdiction of several government department and agencies.
