Sabah needs long-term water security roadmap, says Madius

Kota Kinabalu: Tamparuli Assemblyman Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau (pic) has called for the development of a comprehensive Sabah Water Supply Master Plan with clear targets and timelines to address persistent water supply issues statewide.

He said a long-term strategy was needed to ensure all Sabahans had access to treated water supply while strengthening the State’s water security.

Madius said at least 12 villages along the Tamparuli-Ranau Road and several villages in Mukim Tenghila were still facing water supply challenges, urging the Government to include them in upgrading plans.

He also called for faster land surveys and the issuance of Native Title grants, proposing improvements to the land administration system through digital technology, biometric verification and regular audits.

Speaking during the debate on the Supplementary Supply Bill 2026 at the Sabah State Legislative Assembly on Monday, Madius also proposed increasing the allowance of JKKK Secretaries from RM400 to RM800 monthly, citing their growing responsiilities.
