Kota Kinabalu: A senior Sabah politician said Sabahans need to have political strength and unity in order to forge a strategic ties with the Federal Government, rather than just having alliances with national-based political parties.
Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Ismail, Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Pantai Manis head, pointed out that Sabah’s political stability as well as economic progress would also depend on its pragmatic approach to national politics.
“Because of frequent changes of government, Sabah has not been able to focus on what really matters to the state and people, namely socio-economic development.
“Now, we have a choice to progress and concentrate on development or continue engaging in political debates,” he said.
