“The organ and tissue donation by the late Sulimah saved the lives of three patients suffering from kidney and liver failure and restored the sight of two patients,” he said in a statement.
Dr Asits said the donor was a senior nurse who had served in the Health Ministry since 1989.
Her last duty station was in Medical Ward 4 and the Respiratory Ward at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
“She was a dedicated nurse, beloved by her colleagues and compassionate towards patients.
“The late Sulimah had registered as an organ donor since 2015.
“Her intention to become an organ donor after her passing was fulfilled after the hospital obtained written consent from her next of kin.”
Dr Asits said the department extends its utmost appreciation to her family for fulfilling her wishes and for the gift of life she has given.
“Our condolences are extended to the family for their loss, and we pray for strength for them to cope with their bereavement.
“We pray that all her acts of worship are accepted and that she is placed among the righteous.”
