Kota Kinabalu: Sabah oil and gas players have taken Petronas to task for not honouring its words to award 30 per cent of its project contracts to Sabah companies.
Expressing deep concern over the lack of concrete action from Petronas, Sabah Oil and Gas Service Council (SOGSC) Deputy President Francis Jepiuh said:
“Despite repeated assurances from Petronas to the State Government, we have observed an unsettling trend of Sabahan companies being overlooked in recent contract awards to non-Sabahan vendors who do not possess the capacity and capability to execute the projects.
“This raises serious questions about Petronas’ commitment to its own promises and to the Regional Mandated Tender Threshold limits (RMTT) and priority SWEC (standard work and equipment category) implemented to increase Sabah local content.
