Kota Kinabalu: Schools in Sabah areas recording Air Pollutant Index (API) readings above 150 for three consecutive days will be temporarily closed, the State Government has directed.
State Secretary Datuk Zainudin Aman, who is also State Disaster Committee chairman, said the measure was to protect pupils and teachers from the effects of haze.
He said the directive was also in line with the Education Ministry’s instruction following the royal advice issued by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim.
All schools in Tawau have been directed to close from Wednesday (Oct 14) due to worsening haze conditions, he said in a statement on Tuesday.
