Kota Kinabalu: The 2022 High Court legal suit involving 12 Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) representatives over the state’s 40 per cent revenue share formula is still on, says Upko President Datuk Ewon Benedick.

He said all available channels and platforms not limited to legislation, cabinet, parliament and special committees would be incorporated to claim Sabah’s constitutional rights.

“I have been officially appointed as a member of the Sabah and Sarawak Special Council chaired by the Prime Minister.

“The Council is composed of the Premier of Sarawak and the Chief Minister of Sabah as well as the Secretariat to discuss Sabah’s rights according to the Federal Constitution.

“The demands of Upko and its allies will also be discussed on this new platform. I will use all my power through all available platforms to claim Sabah’s rights,” he said.

Ewon said currently, PH Sabah are also taking into account another court proceeding on the same issue by the Sabah Law Society.

“This issue has been going on for a long time, since before I was born until here I am today,” he said.

The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (Kuskop) Minister said this at the close of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Week held at Sabah International Convention Centre on Sunday.

The programme organised by his Ministry was officiated by the Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan who represented the Chief Minister of Sabah Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Ewon said all six zones in the country including Penang, Melaka, Pahang, Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur exceeded the RM70 million sales target which is very encouraging.

“Sabah recorded RM4.34 million over the week contributing to the national RM82.86 million in SME sales. This is really encouraging.

“However, we can improve Sabah-Federal coordination. For instance a committee to integrate all 66 entrepreneurship related department and agencies in the country into various ministries including will make it easier for Sabahans.

“There are only 10 agencies under Kuskop. The state-capital coordination in Sabah in principle agreed upon by the Sabah Cabinet but there is yet to be a final say,” he said.
