KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Parks recorded 214 programmes and events in 2025, including 88 large-scale initiatives, highlighting strong performance in conservation, environmental education and eco-tourism.
Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin said key achievements included planting 12,000 coral fragments at Tun Mustapha Park, earning a Malaysia Book of Records entry, and hosting the inaugural Malaysia Geopark Network Conference. Environmental education remained a priority through Junior Ranger programmes and scientific expeditions.
Sabah Parks also gained international recognition, with the Crocker Range Biosphere Reserve retaining UNESCO status for another 10 years and Kinabatangan Biosphere Reserve recognised globally.
The agency secured multiple awards in digital innovation and tourism management, while Kinabalu Park and Sipadan Island Park received top MYTQA ratings.
Jafry said the achievements reflect strong management and commitment to sustainability, with efforts to balance conservation, tourism growth and community development ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
