KUALA PENYU: The construction of tube wells in forest reserves can prevent serious fires, especially peat soils.
Sabah Environment Department (DOE) Director Amirul Aripin said Sabah would expect rain below the normal average in November and serious fires in peat land forest.
The Department of Meteorology predicted drought would hit Sabah which could lead to fires in peat soils and subsequently cause haze.
