Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government Pensioners Association will host a pensioners’ conference aimed at educating retired civil servants about the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development agenda.
Its President Datuk Wilfred Lingham said the event is expected to draw more than 230 participants and will feature a presentation by representatives of the SMJ team, followed by the association’s internal meeting and leadership elections in the afternoon. The event will run from April 23 to 25 at The Pavilion Hotel, Sandakan.
“We now have 6,019 members, and many of them —especially lower-ranking retirees — are not fully aware of what SMJ is about.
“Many pensioners return to their village and become busy with farming or family,” he told the Daily Express at the association office here.
