Sabah PH reshuffles ahead of possible early GE

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) has reshuffled its leadership as it gears up for a possible early general election, appointing Datuk Ruji Ubi as secretary, Datuk Chan Foong Hin as information chief and Irwan Shah Mustapa as treasurer, while retaining Zaidi Jatil, Datuk Jannie Lasimbang and Datuk Peto Galim in key posts.

Chairman Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said the move aims to strengthen party machinery, noting Ruji’s experience as a former top civil servant would boost operations.

He said PH welcomed the federal government’s RM1.5 billion interim grant but insisted Sabah’s full 40pc revenue entitlement must be implemented, stressing it is a constitutional right.

Deputy chief Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe urged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to fulfil the commitment, calling on him to “do the right thing for Sabah.” Mustapha downplayed recent defections of two PKR division chiefs as having minimal impact, adding that outside parties face difficulty gaining ground in Sabah.

He said PH will defend its seats and continue discussions on electoral cooperation, including speculation of contesting under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) banner, with no final decision made.
