KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah PKR Election Committee (JPRS) has issued a clarification following the recent resignation of its former logistics unit head, Fekirie Gobet.
In a statement on Thursday, JPRS co-director Abdul Razak Jamil said the committee respected Fekirie’s decision to step down on Aug 26 and would soon appoint a replacement to ensure continuity.
Responding to claims in Fekirie’s resignation letter, Abdul Razak said JPRS continues to hold authority over state-level election matters, while the national leadership provides support and considers input from Sabah.
He explained that the logistics unit’s role only begins once the State Legislative Assembly is dissolved, dismissing suggestions that its responsibilities had been taken over by the central election committee.
Abdul Razak added that preparations remain on track and noted that Fekirie had missed several scheduled meetings, making it inaccurate to suggest state decisions were being sidelined.
He cautioned that the allegations could cause unnecessary confusion among party supporters and reaffirmed JPRS’s commitment to carrying out its duties responsibly ahead of the 17th State Election.
He said JPRS, working with the national election committee, would continue to prepare diligently to ensure a well-organised campaign in the coming polls.
