Kota Kinabalu: Sabah police are focusing on 30 hotspot areas identified to have high traffic accidents.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Idris Abdullah said the “Op Selamat” operation, which started on Wednesday until January 27, involved 33 officers and 234 personnel.

“There are 30 hotspot locations covering a total of 602km in distance.

“All officers and personnel have been instructed to increase enforcement and patrolling in these areas to not only ensure smooth traffic movement but also to reduce the rate of fatal accidents,” he said in a statement, Thursday.

Idris said the operation was also to prevent crimes such as burglary.

He added that there would be continuous patrolling at the premises and residential areas.

Idris also advised the community to always be mindful and obey the law.

“Road users are also advised to be patient when driving and if it involves long distance driving, do get sufficient rest.”
