KOTA KINABALU: Police seized 41.6kg of syabu worth RM1.32 million and arrested three local men in separate raids in Ranau and Telupid on Aug 28.
In the first raid at a Ranau petrol station, a 31-year-old suspect was caught with 21.3kg of syabu packed in Chinese tea bags. Shortly after, two men aged 21 and 24 were arrested at Telupid Mosque with 20 similar packets weighing 20.3kg.
Police said the drugs, believed to have been flown in from Peninsular Malaysia, were destined for Tawau and Semporna. The suspects, paid RM1,000 per kg, acted as runners for a syndicate.
In a separate case, a Suluk man in Kunak was arrested on Aug 14, with RM2.18 million in cash, vehicles, luxury watches, jewellery, and handbags seized. He was a repeat offender previously detained under the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Police have arrested 33 dealers under the Act this year in Sabah.
