THE nomination process for the Sabah State Election (PRN) held at 25 locations throughout the state today went smoothly, said Sabah Police Commissioner, Datuk Jauteh Dikun.
He said that today's process made history when no reports or complaints were received from the Election Commission of Malaysia (EC) other than candidates, proposers or supporters, something that rarely happens.
"The police began as early as 5 am with a strength of 4,571 officers and personnel stationed at 25 nomination centres throughout Sabah, in addition strategic locations to ensure smooth traffic flow.
"The process which started early in the morning and ended around 1.30 pm went smoothly. So far, no incidents that disrupted peace were recorded," he said at a press conference at the Sabah Police Contingent (IPK) Headquarters, this evening.
Jauteh expressed his appreciation to all candidates and party supporters who showed high discipline and complied with security instructions so that the nomination process went smoothly.
“We hope that this level of professionalism will be maintained until polling day on November 29,” he said, reminding all parties to obtain a police permit before holding any campaign, especially in crowded areas.
He said that the permit application process was going smoothly and so far no application has been rejected.
Jauteh also described the cooperation of the media in conveying information about road closures as an important factor in helping the smooth running of nomination day.
Meanwhile, Jauteh confirmed that there was an incident involving a candidate outside the nomination centre who was experiencing health problems, but it was quickly dealt with by medical officers there. – November 15, 2025
