THE Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) is forecasting unsettled weather across much of Sabah as voters head to the polls for the 17th Sabah State Election tomorrow.

In a statement, the agency said rain is expected to begin in the early morning and may persist into the afternoon across several major districts. Among the areas likely to be affected are Kudat, Pitas, Kota Marudu, Kota Belud, Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu, Putatan, Penampang and Papar.

Similar weather conditions are predicted for interior and east coast regions including Ranau, Telupid, Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, Kunak, Semporna, Tawau, Kalabakan, Keningau, Beaufort, Tenom and Sipitang.

Some districts such as Tongod, Nabawan and Paitan may experience a clear morning, but MetMalaysia warns that these areas could see thunderstorms and heavy rain later in the day.

The department urged the public—especially voters planning to travel to polling stations—to prepare for possible disruptions, exercise caution on wet roads, and remain alert for flash floods and thunderstorms.

MetMalaysia said weather updates will continue to be issued through its official channels. – November 28, 2025
