WARISAN’S Sipitang division chief has resigned from the party, reportedly after being excluded from the candidate line-up for Sabah’s 17th general election.

Warisan deputy president Datuk Ignatius Dorell Leiking said he was notified on Thursday of the individual’s decision to leave.

He stressed that Warisan is not a vehicle created merely to offer political posts.

“Yes, we thank them for their service, but we also know some of them left because they were not selected as candidates,” he said when met after the Warisan Karambunai rally in Kota Kinabalu on Thursday night.

He added: “We do not want to dwell on this because the party is not specifically about becoming a candidate, but about saving Sabah.”

Earlier, Sinar Harian reported that Abd Aziz Taip, the Sipitang division chief, had resigned from Warisan and opted to join Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR). - November 28, 2025
