Sabah Ports amendment Bill passed

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Ports (Privatisation) (Amendment) Enactment 2026 was passed by the State Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

The Bill, tabled by Industry, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick (pic), was debated by the assemblymen for Moyog, Tanjung Aru, Tamparuli and Bugaya.

The amendment updates the definition of "Minister" under the Sabah Ports (Privatisation) Enactment 1998 following the transfer of port matters to the Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Sabah during the December 2025 State Cabinet restructuring.

It also validates past decisions made by the minister previously responsible for port matters and has no policy or financial implications for the State Government.
