KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded an overall improvement in the 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results, with a better State Average Grade (GPN) and Subject Average Grade (GPMP).
The GPN dropped to 5.00 in 2024 from 5.09 (2023), reflecting improved student performance, as lower values indicate better achievement.
A total of 39,550 students registered for the 2024 SPM, marking an increase of 750 candidates or 1.89 per cent from the previous year.
Sabah Education Department director Datuk Raisin Saidin said the state’s GPN has steadily improved from 5.35 in 2021 to 5.00 in 2024, showing consistent progress in education quality.
He added that 94.68 per cent of candidates, or 32,501 students, passed core subjects like Bahasa Melayu and History, up from 94.01 per cent or 32,098 students in 2023.
