KOTA KINABALU: Upko deputy president Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin (pic) welcomed the Prime Minister’s special briefing in Parliament on Wednesday and acknowledged the federal allocations channelled to Sabah through various means, including special grants and development loans.
He said while such assistance supports the state’s growth and benefits the people, it should not be confused with Sabah’s constitutional right to 40 per cent of federal net revenue as stated under Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution.
Mojuntin stressed that the entitlement is not a matter of discretion or goodwill but a right enshrined since the formation of Malaysia.
He said Sabah seeks not temporary payments or conditional promises but official recognition and full implementation of this constitutional right.
He added that the struggle for the 40 per cent entitlement belongs to the people of Sabah, calling on the Federal Government to show political sincerity by enforcing it in the true spirit of Malaysia.
