Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Covid-19 caseload continued to climb to 82 on Tuesday from 72 the day earlier as the State Health Department processed more test samples, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

However, he assured that Sabah’s overall Covid-19 situation is still under control despite a higher number of districts recording new cases.

“The daily statistics tie closely with the number of daily test samples. On average, the percentage of positive cases detected among the samples is below five per cent.

“This means that an increase in samples equates to a higher caseload. The number of test samples on Tuesday was 2,615 compared to 2,189 the day earlier,” he said in a statement.

Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 41 cases, followed by Penampang (13), Tuaran (5), Putatan (4), Tambunan (4) and Kota Belud (3).

“Fourteen districts did not record any new infections,” he said, adding no deaths or new clusters were identified.

Masidi said 81 out of 82 cases were category one and two infections, while one case was recorded in category three. 72 per cent of cases were sporadic.

On Sabah’s immunisation programme, 850 individuals took their vaccine on Jun 13, of which 454 were adults and 396 were children.
