Sabah-based Jetsin Sdn Bhd is making its foray into the Philippine market with its halal food brand Abang J, marking a significant step in the company’s regional expansion.
The entry into Mindanao, where most of the Philippines’ Muslim population resides, comes through a partnership with local firm 12 Fold Ventures Corporation.
The move was a direct outcome of the Philippine Business Mission to Kota Kinabalu earlier this year, organised by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI)–Mindanao.

The brand will focus its initial distribution in Davao and General Santos, two cities identified by MinDA as future halal food hubs due to their logistics potential and growing consumer base.
The move supports ongoing efforts by the Philippines to build a national halal ecosystem under its Halal Industry Development Strategic Plan.
It also aligns with BIMP-EAGA’s push to strengthen halal trade amongst member countries.
Jetsin’s entry into the Philippines follows strong halal industry growth across Southeast Asia, with Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia already advancing their ecosystems. The global halal market was valued at USD 2.3 trillion in 2022.
