SABAH’S newly formed Cabinet was officially sworn in on Monday, marking the next phase of governance following the state’s 17th General Election.
The ceremony, held at the official residence of the Sabah Governor, Istana Seri Kinabalu, saw Governor Tun Musa Aman preside over the induction of ministers into the state administration.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who was sworn in on Sunday morning after Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) secured a simple majority of 37 seats in the 73-seat State Assembly, oversaw the appointment of his Cabinet.
The formal swearing-in of 10 ministers began at 2pm, with the ceremony continuing until 3.36pm.
Among those taking their oaths were prominent figures from coalition parties, including PBS deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, Gagasan Rakyat deputy president Datuk Seri Masidi Majun, and UPKO president Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Other ministers sworn in included Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, Datuk James Ratib, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, Datuk Rubin Balang, Datuk Julita Majungki, Datuk Jafry Arifin, and Datuk Jamawi Jaafar.
Their specific ministerial portfolios are yet to be officially announced.
Hajiji is scheduled to hold a press conference at his official residence, Sri Gaya, later today to provide details on Cabinet appointments and coalition arrangements.
The 17th Sabah State Election saw GRS emerge as the dominant coalition, winning 29 of the 73 contested seats. UPKO claimed three seats, while Sabah STAR secured two.
Parti Warisan won 25 seats, Barisan Nasional six, and five independents also gained representation. Perikatan Nasional, Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM), and Pakatan Harapan each won one seat.
The formation of the new Cabinet represents Hajiji’s effort to consolidate leadership within the state, bringing together key coalition partners to ensure stable governance and continuity of Sabah’s development agenda. - December 1, 2025
