Kota Kinabalu: Newly-appointed Sabah Head of State Tun Musa Aman arrived safely at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) Terminal 2 this morning.

The special aircraft carrying Musa landed at about 12 noon, greeted by thousands of supporters who gathered to welcome him.

AdvertisementMusa officially received his appointment letter from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, during a ceremony at Istana Negara in Putrajaya yesterday. He was also conferred the honourific title of "Tun" at the event.

Born on March 30, 1951, in Beaufort, the 73-year-old leader holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Edith Cowan University, Australia. He previously served as the State Assemblyman for Sungai Sibuga for six terms (1994–2020) and held several prominent roles, including Sabah Finance Minister, Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department, and Malaysia’s Honorary Consul to Bangladesh.

Read more Musa was Sabah’s 14th Chief Minister, assuming office on March 27, 2003, and served five consecutive terms until May 12, 2018, making him the longest-serving Chief Minister in Sabah’s history. Musa's term as Sabah’s 11th Head of State will officially commence on January 1, 2025, and continue until December 31, 2028. He succeeds Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, whose term concludes on December 31, 2024.
