
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah is expected to have an almost-50-percent increase in parliamentary seats in the next general election due in 2027 from the present 25 seats to 37 seats, said a Gagasan Rakyat official.
Gagasan Rakyat's Tanjong Kapor head, Ben Chong Chen Bin, said Thursday that the expected increase was due to the efforts of the GRS-led State Government of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
“Soon after forming the State Government, Hajiji wasted no time in ensuring that Sabah’s rights as enshrined under MA63, including having one third of the 222 parliamentary seats from Sabah and Sarawak is achieved," he said in a statement.
