
Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has announced that Sabah achieved a record revenue of RM7 billion last year, placing it among the top six contributors to Malaysia's 2023 Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Citing numbers from the the Statistics Department of Malaysia, Hajiji said Sabah accounted for 5.5 per cent of the nation's GDP. Along with five other states and territories, Sabah contributed to 73 per cent of the national economy.
Sabah also attracted RM11.34 billion in investments last year, ranking seventh in Malaysia, with 13.3 per cent coming from the manufacturing sector.
Hajii shared this information at the Eighth World Engineering, Science and Technology Congress (ESTCON), here, Tuesday.
